How to format listing and profile descriptions with Markdown

To make listing and profile descriptions more appealing, users can format content to add italic, bold, lists etc, using the Markdown syntax.

When users are posting listings in your marketplace, or adding details about them on their profile page, they can fill a description field. To emphasize part of that content, they can easily add some basic formatting to make their listing look better.

Formatting is done with Markdown. Markdown is a simple way to format text that looks great on any device. It doesn’t do anything fancy like change the font size, color, or type — just the essentials, using keyboard symbols we all already know.

A helpful popup is available above the description field.

What kind of formatting can be added to listings and profiles?

It's possible to add:

titles
italic
bold
underline
strike-through
inline links
numbered and unnumbered lists
